šGuessing Game: In meeting minutes released Wednesday, Federal Reserve officials were divided over whether to make two or three total rate cuts this year. The debate ended 10-9 in favor of three rate cuts. However, the ongoing government shutdown means the Fed will have limited information to guide upcoming decisions.
šGold Rush 2.0: Sydney looks to be the backdrop for Australiaās second gold rush as prices hit a record $4,000 USD per ounce. Gold and chips mainly, but rare earths hit the news when the Ministry of Finance required any product deriving more than 0.1% of its value from rare-earths to be approved by the central government. Trump was 100% (tariff) not happy.
š5-Days Break for Franceās PM: Franceās revolving door keeps spinning. Sebastien Lecornu quit Monday as the fifth prime minister in two years, then returned to the job by Saturday. Since Macronās ill-fated snap election in June 2024, his minority government has been stuck in permanent stalemate between the conservative and socialist parties.
šItās a Stable Job, They Said: In light of the ongoing U.S. Government shutdown the Trump administration have begun the āmass layoffsā they promised. Attempting to motivate cooperation from the Democrats the White House Budget Office began the reduction in force (RIF) of over 4,000 staff.
